Hyptis laciniata, also known as Purple Bushmint or Brazilian Watermint, is a rare and beautiful aquarium plant native to South America. It's prized for its unique, finely cut, almost fern-like leaves, which can turn a striking pink or purple under high lighting conditions. In lower light, the leaves are typically a light to olive green.
Care:
Hyptis laciniata thrives in warm, soft to medium-hard water and adapts well to a range of aquarium setups. While it can survive in lower-tech setups, it will benefit from CO2 supplementation for optimal growth and coloration. Strong lighting enhances the purplish tones of the shoot tips.
